May Day at Drupal

Happy May Day with 2 big announcements from the Drupal community. First, the long-awaited release of Drupal 4.7.0 will make many a web site developer happy. Growth in usage and development has increased exponentially in the past 18 months, and now is the time to join the growing ranks of those who use, implement, customize and develop Drupal. Second, the official kick-off of the Drupal Google Summer of Code program applications.

Drupal and Google's Summer of Code 2006

Once again, Google is sponsoring the Summer of Code, and Drupal will be participating. I forecast Drupal will also once again kick ass with fantastic participation and major new code development, just as we did last year. ;-)

Yet we must also offer the the cautionary thought that such warnings, however well-intentioned, merely scratch the surface of what is really necessary in this important area. This is especially true in light of the findings of 20th century physics.
